Hello Comrades of Working Class Acupuncture –

We hope this finds you well.  All is well in Portland and we are excited to announce a “new arrival” to our bookshelves/DVD players:

Jingei Pulse Diagnosis  DVD and accompanying booklet

After 15 years of practicing this and several years of teaching this to practitioners around the country, we have decided to catch our very own, Skip Van Meter, L.Ac. on film.   Many of you have taken this course and may find this useful as a “refresher”.  For those of you that haven’t, this style of pulse diagnosis is one of the keys to our low-cost, high-volume practice here at WCA and this DVD/booklet set will give you what you need to know to put it into practice.

Jingei pulse diagnosis is an ancient form of pulse reading that has its origins in the Ling Shu, Chapter Nine: “The Beginning and the End.” Used specifically to find the root channel of a patient’s illness, Jingei (the term is Japanese for the point Stomach nine) uses a simple comparison of the pulse of the wrist and neck. It can then be used as the basis of a point prescription that cuts to the heart of a patient’s illness, saving much time in formulating effective treatments.

Besides the utter thrill of being able to watch Skip any time you want (I personally like to pause it in really unflattering moments, of which there are a few), this set truly gives you a comprehensive first time glimpse, or repeated reference to this effective style of pulse diagnosis.  This is a new book, with diagrams, photos and charts and the DVD is full of examples, techniques, the answers to FAQs and visual explanations of this technique.

And, if you haven’t seen our bookshelf items before….we also publish Lisa Rohleder’s book, “The Remedy: Integrating Acupuncture into American Health Care”, of which this was said:

"Heart, hands, and head. Lisa Rohleder's new book, The Remedy: Integrating Acupuncture into American Health Care, offers the perfect blend of passion, practicality, and cogent argument. This book is essential for anyone who wants to see a better, simpler, and more powerful way of practicing and receiving this ancient 'peasant medicine.' In a few simple pages, Rohleder offers a commanding vision that can transform, not only American health care, but our broader society as well. Her book threatens the status quo, our stubborn classist notions, and unchallenged assumptions about what is important to the practice of health care. Read this book if you wish to see how it can all be made to work, for a change!"--Michael R. McCoy, Ph.D., Former Executive Director, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance And, for those of you that have gotten this far….stay tuned, as there are several new resources on their way:  a Nuts and Bolts of Community Acupuncture DVD (containing live workshop footage and PR pieces, a Tour of Community Acupuncture DVD (chocked full of community clinic tours, patient interviews/panels and more), and another book (this time in tandem) from Lisa and Skip, (working title) “What’s the Point? An irreverent guide to the clinical practice of community acupuncture”

So, we send this email as an invitation to obtain one or more of the above items:

$15 – “The Remedy: Integrating Acupuncture into American Health Care”,  Lisa Rohleder, L.Ac.

$75 – “Jingei Pulse Daignis – booklet/DVD”, Skip Van Meter, L.Ac.

Just FYI, we have our copies of “The Little Red Book of Acupuncture for Patients” available too, which we sell to interested patients describing our purpose, our business model and acupuncture.  ($7)

We also have a wide variety of men’s & women’s t-shirts and natural colored tote-bags…all emblazoned with our logo, if you care to inquire (t-shirts range from $15-$20…totes are $5).

Shipping and handling on your order will vary according to the amount of propaganda you wish to acquire, but will be around $2.  Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery, but we’ll do our darnedest to get it out sooner.  We take most forms of currency, like paper, plastic (MC & VISA) and checks…sometimes even fresh eggs, veggies or artwork!   Just send us an email at orders@workingclassacupuncture.org with questions, requests and orders and we’ll give you a call to confirm &/or take payment.  (I'm attaching an order form to this if you would like to print it out and mail it in the old fashioned way....)

Our best to you all….

- Lupine and the rest of the Working Class Acupuncture folks

Review

Got my DVD last week and already have watched it twice.  I think it was a great investment.  Although I'm not performing CA at the moment, I can see the great need for this skill in a CA practice.

I've studied various 'techniques' over a couple of years and for the most part felt that I would actually have to apprentice to learn the skill.  I didn't feel this way with the DVD/Book package.

I got the theory and idea right away and was applying the skills in my clinic the next day.  I photocopied the chart inside the booklet and taped it to the tables in my rooms for cheat sheets.  This worked well and I have lots of clients wondering what I'm doing.

I've also heard some good feeback from my clients telling me that they are feeling great.  I think it's a great way to help ease the Qi of their constitutional meridian.

Best,

Kenton Sefcik, R.Ac

Thanks for the review!

Much appreciated.  Yeah, Jingei is pretty effective.  I'm lucky to have learned it in school.

And we're lucky

that you're sharing it with us.

Yea, my own DVD w/ SVM

Had the pleasure of  speaking with Connie just a few minutes ago when ordering my DVD. Just as lovely as I remember her being the first time. Thanks for remembering me from the Portland workshop last Oct. Made me feel like a part of the family (kind of a "cousin").

Anyway, I am continuing to save my centavos and am gettnig close to getting a community practice happening by late summer/early fall. Cant wait for the DVD to get here and thanks you guys for making it available.           Maritza

You are more than welcome!

And thank you Maritza for staying the course....good luck and keep us posted!

And let us know what you think of the book/DVD.

Take care and good luck,

-Lupine.

jingei video

congrats on the new arrival. sounds really cool and i would love to see it, but $75 feels a bit pricey now that we just spent a ton of cash to open a brand new CA clinic. any chance you guys might consider discounting those babies for those of us who are running "full-time" CAPs? (eg: any clinic listed on LOC?)

if not, i might have to skip (ha!) it... for now.

warm regards,

-tatyana

Yo...come on....

This isn't standard low-bar WCA stuff ...it's PRO-fesh-on-AL...we paid real, live cash money (lots) to make it.  Wanted to spread the word in a big way...(taking international orders already!).

Sorry, no special discounts, coupons, punch cards, deals, buy 10-get one free, 2 for 1's....this is the real deal.  The only Jingei material out there...and, from what I've seen, this is still a pretty darn good price as far as instructional videos go.  And none of those even have Mr. Skip Van Meter as the star.

Okay then...catch it when you can...or pitch in together with your friends and do a time-share, have a movie night, a book club...

From the press desk,

-Lupine.
