I write to you from my eyrie with 13 windows and a whole top floor above one of those coffee shops where everyone really does know your name.

For the life of me I am wondering what the FPD as it is proposed would add to the experience of running or working in a program in a hospital in the United States as an acupuncturist. I ran a program for 3 years in a hospital and at no time did I feel that my Masters level training was not up to the job.

The National Institute Of Health has just published the results of its 2007 survey on the usage of CAM ( Complementary and alternative medicine).

There was a mood of general jubilation in my clinic yesterday as patients learned of the defection of Senator Specter to the Democratic Party. Most of them had been sleeping as the radio played the announcement and we all pictured the cat that got the canary face that Obama must have pulled when he learned of this coup.

      I dont know if we here in the US ever had much down time. Were we ever a nation of porch sitters?

I like being a technician. I like sometimes being able to know what would work for the patient in front of me without doing too many diagnostics. I like not having to be a counsellor or a doctor but someone who listens to the needs of my patient as they prioritize them and then uses whatever is in the collective grab bag of tricks to bring that person some relief.

As I watched with amusement the Big 3 go with suitably chastised bowed heads back to Washington today with a plan as to why" we the people " should give them 34 billion to get their financial houses in order a few similarities with the institutions in this country that train acupuncturists struck me .
