Road to 10,000

I have a confession to make, recently I had a chance to do something, something I haven’t done in seven years, something dear to my heart, and so utterly addicting (to me), I just have to come clean and fess up:  I… went…. snowboarding.   Weee-hoooo!

The FPD GOLD RUSH

THARS GOOOLD in DEM DARE HILLS!   About 400-500 million dollars worth in tuition and education fees,  that is,  is up for grabs for the schools.  Give or take a million.   YES ! That's half a BILLION dollars that is up for grabs in the years following the implementation of the FPD.

GREAT NEWS for schools!

BAD news for current practitioners.

Survey Says: 27,965 Licensed Acupuncturists in the U.S. as of July 2009

But the whole picture isn't rosy - the current trends indicate that acupuncturists are leaving the practice in high numbers.

Get the Funk Out

Recently we received this feedback from a pokee.

"Antenna for the 'God' signal"

keithananda's picture

"Here's a trippy thought: perhaps the reshaping of neural connections in
our brains makes our synaptic firing more of an antenna for the "god"
signal. I'm tuning in to the signal right now... yes... It's coming in
....WBLISS 108.OM"  (thanks to my friend Matthew for this bit of neural feedback)

Who *owns* acupuncture?

Rumi-nating...

keithananda's picture

Years ago, one of my dearest friends introduced me to the ecstatic poetry of Rumi, Mirabai, Hafiz, and others. "Essential Rumi" was one of two books (the other being a lonely planet guide) that I carried with me to India when I stepped out of my comfort zones and travelled there for the better half of a year, seemingly a lifetime ago.

Do you have a passion for changing the way health care works (or doesn't work in our country)?  um, hopefully, if you are reading this,  the answer to that question is yes.  So here's a chance for all of us to put our community acupuncture centers where our big mouths are.

A Change of Seasons

As the shadows begin to grow longer here in the Sonoran desert, I say goodbye  Fire and Earth, and hellooo... Metal. My thoughts turn to autumn and cooler temperatures, and not soon enough because Tucson is already pretty much absolute Yang.

Monsoon Friday, the Microcosm and the Macrocosm

“Hey, Keith, we have a bit of a water problem in the back of the treatment room”, Larry whispers calmly, as I pause, catch my breath, and try to figure out who’s next on the list to be treated. Somewhere deep down in the recesses of my mind is the old “oh sh*** you better do something” voice whispering. Somewhere else in there was the little gnome of reason calmly telling my “oh sh**” voice to chill out. “Just grab those extra blankets in back and use them,” I think I said to him. Larry heads to the back of the room, forever cool as the proverbial cucumber.
