WCA Jingei pulse DVD review
I have found that the most valuable workshops are the one’s that you can apply the next day after taking them. Richard Tan workshops are like that for me. The Jingei pulse diagnosis DVD produced by WCA and Skip Van Meter is another. It is something you can watch and then implement immediately.
Based on the ancient technique described in chapter nine ofthe Nei Jing Ling Shu it is used determine the root balance of the 12 main meridian channels of the patient.
I have been using Jingei at the clinic, but I’ve found watching the DVD and reading through the workbook has increased the depth of my understanding and effectiveness as a practitioner. I have taken several Jingei workshops in person, but after reviewing the DVD it helped me anchor Jingei’s simple and clear concepts.
Initially I wasn’t too Jingei friendly because when I was in school it was presented in a cryptic manner which left me wondering just what I was supposed to be feeling….
Since then I have become Jingei friendly as well as thankful in being able to very quickly determine the root meridian imbalance to begin treatment. Unlike the radial pulses, the Jingei pulse ratio is always clear. What is the width? This is really important on the occasions when you have several people waiting for their treatment or somebody in the next chair is squirming and ready to getup….
I think the more that I practice the more I believe in systems as a way of keeping it simple. Once the system is in place, then I can “decorate the Christmas tree” as Skip explains in the workbook.
This DVD / workbook is divided into 3 sections
1) Introduction/overview with Skip van Meter explaining the basic concepts of Jingei along with a demonstration.
2) Matthew Gulbransen explains both the concept of the “Busy” character and the Chinese clock based on a meridian theory perspective.
3) Excerpts from an entire Jingei workshop lead by Skip.
It seems that every few months I need to refresh my skills or learn something new to keep things interesting. What better way to learn then watching a DVD? I came back to the clinic after watching this DVD with increased awareness and confidence of the meridian systems. I would recommend adding this DVD as a resource to your library.

so, how effective is this method ?

Dear Assaf, I always look for an immediate shift with a treatment. Watching a patient "sink" with a few needles is always a good to sign to me. Finding a way to quickly find and treat the root after sorting through symptoms is especially important when treating in a community acupuncture model. I think of Jingei as an integrating factor especially when a patient is coming in for a series of treatments. Like anything I can only suggest you try it out for yourself. -Joseph
thank you for your answer!
I totally agree
Having been recently licensed and new to community acupuncture, starting this summer, I easy could dive right in with quick simple, VERY EFFECTIVE treatments by ordering the Jingei DVD.
I just got back from the seminar in Portland with WCA, I told my fellow practioners who were looking into buying the DVD that it is worth it's wait in gold.
Thanks, Elizabeth
