The link to the Newsweek article that shows the widening gap between those w/ health-care and those who don't. Gov. Kaine of VA says "2/3 of the 46 million uninsured in the U.S. have jobs but can't afford health insurance."

along the same lines: lab tests for the uninsured
I just found out about a program through Quest Diagnostics called Quest cares -- unfortunately, only available in CO, DE, MT, NM, Southern NJ, PA, TX, and WY, but hopefully soon across the nation, that offers CHEAP lab tests for the uninsured.
Check it out at www.questdiagnostics.com/questcares, spread the word. There's a detailed price list and everything. I'm signing up tomorrow.
Here's another one from the San Francisco Chronicle:

Insured patients are being forced to use ER services increasingly because their health insurance isn't getting them appointments in a timely fashion.
