Clinic Update, First Profit!

Melonie Burgess's picture

Hello All

it has been a while since I blogged..my new little baby is keeping me busy.  I wanted to give an update on our clinic, Sarasota Community Acupuncture.  We opened our doors in July and we made our first profit in October!  We are excited, especially considering the economy.  We put out one ad in a local paper and we did Free First Friday for several months, but both had little response.  Actually, all of our patients have been referred by others:  the power of word of mouth.

Just wanted to let you all know...

Lafuma Chairs

How are those Lafuma zero gravity chairs working out for you? I'm considering them but concerned about weight of patients and longevity of chairs. Do you think it necessary to cover the whole chair with a sheet vs. just the headrest/arm rests and foot areas?

It depends

on which LaFumas you buy.  I have XL ones that the manufacturer says can hold up to 300 lbs.  The warrantee doesn't apply if they are used in a business.  After 18 monthsof use, the bungie cord on one of them broke.  I replaced it for $20.  Otherwise no problems.

I use a fitted twin sheet over the entire chair as sometimes when ppl fall asleep the needles come out.  It's easier to find them in the sheet.

My LaFumas are mesh so they can feel cold on the person's back.  The sheets help.  In the winter I also put a fleece blanket folded in half or fourths  on top of the sheet for even more warmth under the person.
